Nannyberry

Viburnum lentago, aka nannyberry, is part of a large genus of 150+ attractive flowering shrubs. It is a great landscaping shrub that is attractive year round. It blooms big white flowers in early May, followed by dark blue berry clusters and then the dark green foliage turns bright red in autumn.

Growing conditions: Easy to grow in our region, tolerant of many conditions. Tends to grow most readily on edges of streams and forests. A great urban shrub.

Size at maturity: 15-20’

Uses: Edible berries tasting like a prune or banana, collected in winter. Also known as wild raisin.
