Shinsui Asian pear on OHxF97

Developed in Japan in the 1960’s, this is many people’s favorite Asian pear and has become sought after all over the globe. It is one of the sweetest Asian pears and there is nothing quite like the juicy pop of biting into a fresh Shinsui harvested off the tree. Shinsui translates to “New Juice” — could it be possible that this set a new benchmark for Asian pear back then? We think so.

Size at maturity: 20'-25’

Pollination: Needs another pear in bloom at the same time, ideally another Asian pear as most European pears bloom later than Asian pears.
