Red Mulberry

Morus rubra is a fast-growing and easy to grow deciduous tree with a dense, spreading crown. It’s bark and roots has a beautiful dark red tinge to it. Often confused and misidentified with black and white mulberry, both native to Asia. As a fruit-producing tree, it is basically free of pest and disease pressure. Propagated far and wide by birds.

Growing conditions: Red mulberry is not too picky on where it chooses to grow although it does prefer rich soil.

Size at maturity: 50’-75’

Uses: We are carrying Red Mulberry for its potential as a fruit-producing tree. It can be used as rootstock to graft cultivated/improved mulberry varieties on to. This has HUGE potential.
