Sometimes, just sometimes, the name of a cultivar pins down exactly what the fruit is like. This is an example of that. This European pear blooms and ripens early (late summer) and is best eaten under ripe when the flesh is still firm. Because of these traits for which it was bred, it is one of the best performers in cold climates and sort of acts like a European pear with Asian pear traits (crispy, juicy, low acid).
